The topic of discussion in today’s episode is the Jews of Medina. After the establishment of Islam in Medina, several things changed, such as the disappearance of polytheists from Medina. Almost all of those who were polytheists before the Battle of Badr became Muslims. Among these, several people became Muslims to gain political advantage. That is, they hated Islam but outwardly claimed to be Muslims. After the Battle of Badr, another group emerged alongside the hypocrites or traitors, and that was the Jews. The Jews were a distinct opponent of the Muslims’ desire to form an independent state. This conflict between Jews and Muslim countries was an ideological conflict. If someone wants to be Jewish, they have to be ethnically Jewish. But previously, Judaism was an independent religion that anyone could convert to if they wanted to. Now they have incorporated their religion into their own national identity. So no one can convert to Judaism if they want to.
Many Muslim organizations are currently talking about establishing direct trade agreements with Israel. Taking a public stand against Jews in today’s world is not an easy task. But today’s Muslims must remember that discussing Jews today will be unpopular with many. We learn from the Quran and Sunnah that the Jews are our enemies. The Jews are the number one enemy of Muslims. The hostility began when the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) first arrived in Medina. The conflict between Muslims and Jews is that they refuse to accept the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) as a messenger of Allah. Today’s entire episode will discuss the conflict and conflict between Jews and Muslims.
The Jews originated from the nation of Bani Israel. Allah Almighty has mentioned the names and stories of the Children of Israel numerous times in the Quran. The next nations mentioned the most were mostly the Israelites. We previously discussed the story of Ibrahim (peace be upon him)? He had a son named Ishaq (may Allah be pleased with him). Another son was named Ismail (RA). They were both prophets. Ismail (peace be upon him) settled in Mecca. And its propagation began in Mecca.
Another son of Ibrahim (peace be upon him) was named Ishaq (peace be upon him). One of his sons was named Yaqub (a.s.). This Yaqub a Salam or Jacob is the original father of the Children of Israel. Jacob (peace be upon him) was a prophet and had 12 children.
This time, one of the children will be Prophet Yusuf (peace be upon him). Whose story is in the Quran. From the 12 sons of Jacob, 12 tribes emerged. And from this twelve tribes the nation of Bani Israel emerged. Jacob grew up in Palestine. We learn from the story of Joseph that He suffered a great loss and his brothers came to him for help. And they settled in Egypt, and thus began the settlement of the Children of Israel in Egypt.
But they gradually drifted away from the religion of Jacob (peace be upon him). Once upon a time, a Pharaoh was established in power in Egypt and began to oppress them. He made the Israelites his slaves, and this was a time of great shame for the Israelites. Allah sent to them a Messenger from among themselves to protect them, and he was Moses (peace be upon him). Allah also sent his brother Harun (peace be upon him) as a helper for Musa (peace be upon him). Under their leadership, the Children of Israel were freed from Pharaoh’s tyranny.
And by Allah’s will, Pharaoh and his government were overthrown. Although the Children of Israel gained freedom under the leadership of Musala Salam, their hearts were still bound in slavery. The Children of Israel believed in monotheism, but various customs penetrated their hearts to such an extent that their own identity disappeared. They preferred the cheap food of Egypt to the food of Paradise. Musa (peace be upon him) was annoyed by asking him various questions.
They were later led by Noah, a descendant of Moses. He led the people of Israel to Jerusalem. By the will of Allah, the Children of Israel defeated a powerful nation and conquered Jerusalem. And that era was the best time for the Children of Israel.
Dawud (peace be upon him) was succeeded by his son Shu’aib (peace be upon him), and both of them were just rulers. After Shuaib (peace be upon him), the condition of the Children of Israel became deplorable. After Shuaib (peace be upon him), the condition of the Children of Israel became deplorable. They continue to be injured by attacks from other groups. The Babylonian invasion in the 8th century BC and later the Roman invasion devastated them. In this way, the Israelites gradually became weaker. At this time, they left their homeland of Palestine and spread to other Arab lands. Allah sent numerous prophets to the Children of Israel, and the last of them was Imran.
And after that, Allah sent the Messenger (peace be upon him) as a prophet to the entire world. The Israelites had such high levels of ethnic pride that they did not want to unite with the Arabs. Before the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), they used to threaten the polytheists with the words: “A prophet will come from among us and we will kill you in droves.” They had national pride and arrogance in their hearts that prevented them from accepting Islam.
The first thing we will discuss now is the activities and tactics of the Jews in Medina. We need to know about the tactics that the Jewish people have been using against Muslims until now. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) considered the Jews as citizens of Medina and treated them as such from the beginning.
He had no hidden agenda against them, nor did he conspire against them. To be honest, they were considered better as People of the Book than the polytheists. To be honest, they were considered better as People of the Book than the polytheists.
What the Jews did throughout their time in Medina was deception and betrayal. But they didn’t reveal everything directly. At one point, they rebelled against the state of Medina. And they supported all the countries that were against Medina, which resulted in their expulsion from Medina.
And they supported all the countries that were against Medina, which resulted in their expulsion from Medina. The first point: The first plot of the Jews was to create division among Muslims. The Jews first realized that they could never win a war with the Muslims. The Jews used inflammatory words to provoke the tribes of Aws and Hajjaj. Some Jews of that era were unsuccessful in composing poems pitting one tribe against another.
When the conflict between the Aus and Hajjaj tribes arose, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) came quickly upon learning of it. He came and told everyone to calm down. Do you want to go back to the dark ages of the past? Have you forgotten the grace of God that saved you from the dark ages?
When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) heard this, they came to their senses and forgot their differences and became close to each other again.
Be careful with your choice of words because Satan can use them to create evil.
In this regard, Allah Almighty says:
And tell My servants to say that which is best. Indeed, Satan induces [dissension] among them. Indeed Satan is ever, to mankind, a clear enemy.
(Quran 17:53)
Allah Almighty has mentioned in the Quran the conspiracy of Saeed ibn Qais and his companions.
Say, “O People of the Scripture, why do you disbelieve in the verses of Allah while Allah is Witness over what you do?” Say, “O People of the Scripture, why do you avert from the way of Allah those who believe, seeking to make it [seem] deviant, while you are witnesses [to the truth]? And Allah is not unaware of what you do.” O you who have believed, if you obey a party of those who were given the Scripture, they would turn you back, after your belief, [to being] unbelievers.
(Quran 3:98-100)
Here Allah Almighty is saying that the consequences of imitating the Jews and Christians will be very terrible. The Jews knew that the Prophet (peace be upon him) was a true prophet and their scriptures mentioned the coming of the Prophet (peace be upon him). Yet they did not accept the Messenger of Islam because Allah did not send the Messenger (peace be upon him) from among them but from among the Arabs. They want Muslims to commit kufr.
Allah warns them about this conspiracy, saying in the Quran:
And how could you disbelieve while to you are being recited the verses of Allah and among you is His Messenger? And whoever holds firmly to Allah has [indeed] been guided to a straight path. O you who have believed, fear Allah as He should be feared and do not die except as Muslims [in submission to Him]. And hold firmly to the rope of Allah all together and do not become divided. And remember the favor of Allah upon you – when you were enemies and He brought your hearts together and you became, by His favor, brothers. And you were on the edge of a pit of the Fire, and He saved you from it. Thus does Allah make clear to you His verses that you may be guided. And do not be like the ones who became divided and differed after the clear proofs had come to them. And those will have a great punishment.
(Quran 3:101-105)
The Jews were proud of their religion, but it had nothing to do with religion. They even made disrespectful comments about Allah. Jews are constantly talking about Islam and Muslims.
Allah Almighty says more about this:
You will surely be tested in your possessions and in yourselves. And you will surely hear from those who were given the Scripture before you and from those who associate others with Allah much abuse. But if you are patient and fear Allah – indeed, that is of the matters [worthy] of determination.
(Quran 3:186)
The Jews used to boast about their own religion and say that their religion was the only truth and that all other religions were lies.
Whatever they said, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) never used any unpleasant words against them. Then Allah revealed this verse:
Have you not considered those who were forbidden from private conversation, then they return to that which they were forbidden and converse among themselves about sin and aggression and disobedience to the Messenger? And when they come to you, they greet you with that [word] by which Allah does not greet you and say among themselves, “Why does Allah not punish us for what we say?” Sufficient for them is Hell, which they will [enter to] burn, and wretched is the destination.
(Quran 58-8)
The Jews used to say among themselves that why doesn’t Allah punish us for talking so much nonsense? This means that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) is a liar. Allah Almighty has stated that their appropriate punishment is Fire.
Point number four: The Jews were the spiritual masters of the hypocrites. These two groups had the same goal, which was the downfall of Islam. So they worked together. What united them, forgetting centuries of hatred, was their hatred of Islam. The Jews were the planners and the hypocrites were the implementers.
In this regard, Allah Almighty says:
And when they meet those who believe, they say, “We believe”; but when they are alone with their evil ones, they say, “Indeed, we are with you; we were only mockers.”
(Quran 2:14)
The hypocrites used to meet with the Jews secretly. In this regard, Allah Almighty says in the Quran:
And you will never be able to be equal [in feeling] between wives, even if you should strive [to do so]. So do not incline completely [toward one] and leave another hanging. And if you amend [your affairs] and fear Allah – then indeed, Allah is ever Forgiving and Merciful.
(Quran 4:129)
According to most Muslim scholars, the Jews are being referred to here. Allah also says in the Holy Quran that:
Indeed, those who reverted back [to disbelief] after guidance had become clear to them – Satan enticed them and prolonged hope for them. That is because they said to those who disliked what Allah sent down, “We will obey you in part of the matter.” And Allah knows what they conceal.
(Quran 47:25-26)
Allah Almighty says that nothing should ever be the same with the Jews. Agreeing on some things is enough to be a disbeliever. Agreeing on some things is enough to be a disbeliever. Allah Almighty also says in this regard:
Have you not considered those who make allies of a people with whom Allah has become angry? They are neither of you nor of them, and they swear to untruth while they know [they are lying]. Allah has prepared for them a severe punishment. Indeed, it was evil that they were doing. They took their [false] oaths as a cover, so they averted [people] from the way of Allah, and for them is a humiliating punishment.
(Quran 58:14-16)
In this verse, Allah Almighty is talking about the hypocrites who took as friends those upon whom Allah Almighty’s curse was upon them. And these cursed people are the Jews.
Point number 5: Opposing the call to Islam. The Jews took one step towards converting to Islam, which was to confine those who converted to Islam to one house. In this way, they opposed people from accepting Islam.
Point number 6 is spreading rumors and expressing joy over the defeat of Muslims. He never missed an opportunity to harm or harm Islam or Muslims. The Jews could not contain their joy when Muslims had any problems. After the Battle of Badr, their activities crossed all limits.
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, “Be careful, Jews, for Allah will punish you just like He punished the Quraysh.”
In this regard, Allah Almighty reminded us of the Battle of Badr,
Say to those who disbelieve, “You will be overcome and gathered together to Hell, and wretched is the resting place.” Already there has been for you a sign in the two armies which met – one fighting in the cause of Allah and another of disbelievers. They saw them [to be] twice their [own] number by [their] eyesight. But Allah supports with His victory whom He wills. Indeed in that is a lesson for those of vision.
(Quran 3:12-13)
The Battle of Badr is a lesson for any future-oriented person. The Battle of Badr is proof that Muslims are on the truth. At the Battle of Badr, the Jews saw how Allah helped the Muslims. Yet they did not act upon the truth when they received it.
