In the previous episode, we discussed the preparations for the conquest of Mecca and its context. The Prophet (peace be upon him) started his journey towards Mecca with an army of 10,000, and the son of this army was the largest army ever. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) reached a place called Jitwa with his army. Once there, he decided who would lead which part of his army. And I gave instructions on how to enter Mecca. The left flank was led by Khalid bin Walid (RA). The right side was led by Ashu Bhaiyya (may Allah be pleased with him). On the other hand, the Quraysh recruited some mercenaries because they wanted to use their hired soldiers to fight instead of fighting directly. If this hired army is victorious, they will receive a share of the spoils of war or a share of the noble opinion, and if they are defeated, the Quraysh will make a treaty with the Muslims so that they can at least remain in Mecca. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) told everyone not to attack anyone because he was going so that there would be less bloodshed. The Muslim army surrounded Mecca and advanced in such a way that the Quraysh had no power to resist them. They were disappointed and the Muslims entered Mecca without any hindrance.

Abu Sufyan went to the people and shouted, “Those who take refuge with me are safe.” The people said, “Your house is very small, how can we take refuge with so many people there?” He replied, “Those who stay in their homes and in the mosque will be safe.” Hearing this, everyone went to their homes and closed their doors and windows. Finally, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) returned to his country victorious.

The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) entered Mecca riding a Camel and wearing a black turban on his head. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) then performed Tawaf around the Kaaba and, using the arrow in his hand, he began to break the idols around the Kaaba. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) immediately began to recite those verses of the Quran.

And say, “Truth has come, and falsehood has departed. Indeed is falsehood, [by nature], ever bound to depart.”

    (Quran 17:81)

Say, “The truth has come, and falsehood can neither begin [anything] nor repeat [it].”

    (Quran 34:49)

One by one, all the idols were destroyed. Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) brought the key of the Kaaba and the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) opened the lock and entered. Entering the Kaaba, he saw many statues and paintings. He broke all the statues and erased all the paintings.

Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) went to every corner of the Kaaba, recited Allahu Akbar, and then prayed there. Then he came out of the Kaaba and addressed the crowd. Then he recited this verse from the Quran:

O mankind, indeed We have created you from male and female and made you peoples and tribes that you may know one another. Indeed, the most noble of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous of you. Indeed, Allah is Knowing and Acquainted.

    (Quran 49:13)

The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) came out of the Kaaba. There were many people standing around him. The only question on everyone’s face was what decision he would take on this man, because they had tortured him day after day and had driven him out of their country.

The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said to the people present, “Tell me what you expect from me.” The people present said, “You are our brother, so we expect good things from you.” He said, “What Yusuf (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) told his brothers is that from today on, you are all free and independent.”

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) abolished all the laws of the dark ages or the age of ignorance. From now on, Islamic law will be implemented. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) called Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) to give the call to prayer.

Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) was a member of the lower class at that time. Many people were annoyed when they saw him calling the call to prayer on the top of the Kaaba, but Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) ignored them and continued to call the call to prayer in a sweet tone.

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) to give the call to prayer, to show that a person’s status will be determined by his Takwa.

When a person converts to Islam, he cannot be called a complete Muslim because the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said in a hadith that you have become Muslims, but you are not complete because faith has not entered your hearts. And the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) did not initially go to war with the Quraysh, rather they were the ones who opposed Islam in various ways, and later the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) fought them. He wanted them to convert to Islam but he did not know whether they would become Muslims. When the Quraysh came to fight, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used all his strength, and when the Quraysh surrendered, he forgave them.

The people of Mecca realized that the idols they had been worshipping for so long were their false gods, and realizing this mistake, they began to embrace Islam in droves.

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) fought against the Quraysh as needed, and after the conquest of Mecca, he forgave them, but some people could not be forgiven because they would have considered it a sign of weakness if they had been forgiven, and their crime was so unworthy that he ordered them to be killed.

Let’s learn about the first person, his name was Abdullah ibn Khattab. He was a Muslim eunuch. His duty was to collect taxes. Once, while collecting taxes, he had a quarrel with his subordinate slave over something and he killed the slave. But Islam treats everyone fairly, whether he is a master or a slave. He knew that he would be sentenced to death, so he fled to Mecca and renounced his religion. Later, he went to Mecca and hung himself by the covering of the Kaaba. After the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) ordered him to be killed in that state,

This man had two slave girls who always slandered the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him). One of them was killed and the other was forgiven after he converted to Islam.

Abdullah ibn Abisara was a Quran keeper. But later he abandoned Islam and fled to Mecca. Later, after the conquest of Mecca, he came to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) and took the oath of allegiance. Miraculously, his life was spared and he later became a good Muslim. Mecca had been conquered, but there was fear among the Ansar that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) might remain in Mecca. When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) heard about this conversation of the Ansar, he called them and asked them if they had said this. At first they denied it, then they admitted that they had said this. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, “I will die with you, but I will live with you.” The Ansar were very happy to hear this and tears started flowing from their eyes.

After the conquest of Mecca, the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) used to pitch a tent near the Kaaba. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) stayed in Mecca for nineteen days, then returned to Medina.
